What is a typical workday like for you?
At Brown Spark we have the most fun. As we are huge advocates for empowering young females, we meet new people everyday and the girls we work closely with, the days usually starts off checking up on them and making sure they are alright.
We then strategise on how to create change in their lives and the next steps to help bring exposure to the brand.
How did you get involved in the fashion industry?
I actually never intended to own a business. I’ve always wanted to work with the world’s leading fashion brands in fashion business. However, during my time at university, I spent some time working as an intern in established brand management agencies, then I found the gap in the market and choose to fill it myself. I’m super excited about the future for us.
What is the most valuable lesson learned since you first began your own label?
Being able to discern the difference in people and seasons as its always evolving. Also turning off the voice that says “give up” in my mind. The ability to overcome your fears are so powerful but most importantly getting mentorship which enables you to avoid mistakes and learning without experiencing high risks in life and situations.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
It’s a combination of the latest trends and my creative mind. I believe under-garments should not only be worn for its purpose. My inspiration now is showcasing inner wear as outter wear, like a playsuit with dark jeans and a blazer.
What makes Brown Spark garments unique?
Not only the purpose behind the brand, but also the fact that we make sure it’s true fit or money back guarantee.
If you could have a celebrity or historical figure from history wearing your clothes, who would it be?
Anne Boleyn. I think she is Bomb and if she was in Brown Spark I don’t think King Henry VIII would have beheaded her.
In three words, how would you describe Brown Spark’s style?
Statement, classy and admiring.
What can we expect to see from you in the near future?
Expect more sponsored events empowering young women, huge collaborations with brands and influencers and also amazing new collections… We are also developing a made to measure service catering to all women and sizes.
What advice would you give to young aspiring fashion designers?
Get mentorship and never give up keep pushing till the people that doubted you start asking for help from you.
A huge thanks to the creators behind Brown Spark for participating in this exciting series. Stay tuned for next month when I will be back with a brand new designer!
Ciao for now…
