“Our clothing was created to use as a promotional tool worn by popular UK rappers to raise awareness about our community/school programme.
Our aim is to inspire and engage young people, irrespective of their varying backgrounds and personal circumstances. By depicting society’s culture combined through the power of music.”
What is a typical workday like for you?
Early starts, 2-3 meetings a day, delivery of hats. Continuous emails/phone calls with external agencies and reviewing sponsorship deals.
How did you get involved in the fashion industry?
We decided to enter the fashion industry as a platform to raise awareness around the different communities, about our interventions working with young people. Being able to interview and supply popular UK music artist with the different style hats was the beginning. The next step of the process will be T-shirts and tracksuits.
What is the most valuable lesson learned since you first began your own label?
The importance of time management. Being able to have the right people around to support and guide me through the good and bad. Having self-belief through the early stages and coming back from knockdowns.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
In designing the logo for “MFB” I wanted to create an image that was bold and appealing for the young people and the current artist we are looking work with. I wanted to connect the pieces of the letters, like carriages to a train, because I strongly believe that through networking and sharing, we can inspire creativity among the young people thus steering them away from negative influences, which is what this company encompasses.
What makes MFB garments unique?
Being a label that has the sole objective to raise awareness and empower the young people of today. The message behind the garments makes them that much more powerful.
If you could have a celebrity or historical figure wearing your clothes, who would it be?
Tre: That’s a hard one. I think for the pure fact that he is a living legend and a fashionista, it has to be P-Diddy. He is also a household name in music, hard working and a great entrepreneur to learn from.
Aaron: It has to be Giggs! I grew up listening to him. He is an absolute legend and he only gets better.
In three words, how would you describe MFB’s style?
Trendy, Inspirational, Universal.
What can we expect to see from you in the near future?
From us you can expect to see a variety of clothing coming out. From T-shirts, tracksuits to jackets.
What advice would you give to young aspiring fashion designers?
Be unique, accept opinions and work hard!
“MFB hope provide a number of different clothing garments from Hats to T-shirts, jackets, hoodies and sweatshirts to be worn by all young and old. We want to be known as a company that inspires the youth and brings the community together through the love of fashion and music.”
A huge thank you to Aaron and Tre for your time. MFB are currently working on some new products so keep your eyes peeled for those!
Until next time…
