Before we know it, January is almost over and February is slowly creeping up on us. February is an important month when it comes to fashion. Firstly, it’s Valentine’s Day, a day to dress up for your loved one. And secondly, it’s London Fashion Week; five days to put on your best outfits and parade around London, viewing next seasons biggest trends.
AW17 is set to be a big season and if like me, you love fashion week you’re going to want to dress the part. For me, fashion weeks are about seeing the new collections, but I also love seeing what everyone outside the main stage area is wearing. I always feel so inspired by street wear and find myself constantly influenced by what I see on the street as well as what I see on the catwalks.
If it’s your first fashion week, it can be a little daunting. You can be faced with a lot of questions such as ”what do I wear”, “what if people know this is my first time” and “what if I don’t belong there”. We’ve all been there. And we’ve all had our very first show. But don’t worry about it. Fashion is fun.
As this will be my fourth season, I feel like I have a good enough experience to share some of it with Fashion Week first timers.
With cameras going off left right and centre, the clothing you choose to wear is relatively important. It’s not about what you wear but how you wear it. If you wear something, you have to wear it with confidence. Whether it’s a look you’re trying out for the first time or a classic look of yours. Confidence is key.
Compared to other Fashion Weeks, I feel like London is the most colourful. You can see a lot of experimentation as well as sophisticated classic looks.
So if this is your first or your 100th. Try something new, stick to what you know works well, and above all, walk like you own that road!
