Savvy Sale Shopping in Mykonos

I’m sharing my favourite sales purchases of the year and the surprising place I bought them from!

I’ve been really good the last few months and following a rather strict (and very boring) spending ban.  Any big purchases have been put on hold, so there have been no exciting new shoes or recent bags.  I’d been impressed at how well I had been doing given my shopaholic tendencies!  However, what I didn’t account for was how good the shopping would be on a recent getaway to Mykonos.

I finally got my belated summer holiday during early October which is considered to be off peak season in Mykonos.  Come the 31st October the entire island shuts down, so a number of the boutiques, of which there are plenty of amazing ones, are keen to shift as much stock as possible before they close for the winter.  Some of the sales were just too good to miss and I left with a much fuller suitcase than when I arrived!

There were two stand out of purchases which I thought I’d share as they’re quite possibly my bargains of the year.  Hopefully, it will give you an idea of the kind of sale shopping you can expect in Mykonos.  Both came from the same store, called Enny Monaco which stocks an array of amazing brands and has multiple boutiques across Greece.

I’ve dreamed of owning a piece from Balmain since my University days but never thought it’d actually happen.  I managed to bag a few pieces from the HM x Balmain collaboration which I absolutely treasure.  I even treated myself once to a dress from Balmain’s diffusion line, Pierre Balmain off My Sale (it was heavily reduced!), but Balmain mainline has always felt out of reach (because the prices are astronomical!).

When I spotted a pile of folded jeans on a high up shelf, I couldn’t quite believe they were all Balmain with 80% off!  Although these are a statement trouser because they’re monochrome, they are surprisingly easy to style.  Having a piece like this in my collection is a dream come true and it would never have happened if it wasn’t for my “off peak holiday” (as silly as that may sound)!

The other naughty purchase I made was a pair of Christian Louboutin So Kate boots in black with a 120mm.  All Louboutin shoes were 50% off so it was hard to resist!  I thought these classic boots would be perfect during the winter.  Plus, given that they’re a classic shape which never usually go on sale, it was impossible to resist!

I realise planning your holiday around the sales is a little extreme but it’s definitely an amazing bonus.   You never know what amazing pieces you might find!
